Brockhampton sweetened the deal of their indefinite hiatus with an announcement at Coachella that confirmed that their final album will be releasing in 2022.
The Texas band recently shared that the two-weekend festival in California would mark their farewell as a band. As they finished their set on the Sahara stage which included performances of their biggest hits “Buzzcut,” “1999 Wildfire,” “Summer” and “Boogie,” it concluded with the band’s logo and the final words “The Final Album” and “2022” on the screens. Fans at the festival and online erupted, with many immediately taking to social media to share and celebrate the news. The band seemed to be in high spirits and even joked with the crowd about their impending breakup and were heard saying, “This our last shows ever…we not coming back.”
After their performance, Kevin Abstract confirmed the news once more with a simple Tweet that read, “the final brockhampton album 2022.” In the past Abstract has also taken to Twitter to discuss the album delay. The group’s creative director once joked that the band was pushing back the album because they were scouting for new members. The group has released a total of six studio albums thus far, the most recent in 2021 titled Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine.
