As the UAE celebrated its 49th National Day, HH Sheikh Mohammed, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai took to Twitter to state that he believes “the UAE will be the fastest country in the world to recover”.

With tourism into Dubai on the rise, thanks to the quarantine-free travel between the UK and the UAE, and a host of high-profile events on the horizon, the UAE is well placed to bounce back from the global pandemic.

In his tweet, Sheikh Mohammed stated that “Gitex will be the most important realistic global technical event in 2020 and the UAE will be the fastest country in the world to recover.”

“Our institutions have proven their ability to adapt,” he continued. “We will conclude 2020 with a global event and we will start 2021 with a series of projects and major initiatives.”

Dubai aims to end 2020 on a high, with the Gitex Technology Week, which runs from today until December 10. It’s one of the first major events in the emirate that allows for physical attendance, and it will welcome 1,200 companies from 60 nations.

Next year, Sheikh Mohammed continues, is “our fiftieth year and our golden jubilee, and it will be different from all years, God willing.”

If you’re ready to bid farewell to 2020 and start looking with some positivity towards the new year, there’s a raft of events to look forward to in 2021. From the postponed Expo 2020 to ground-breaking hotel openings and A-list music events, 2021 looks set to make up for the lack of good times in 2020.
