Pop singer Avril Lavigne will open the Games on Thursday March 14…

The line-up for the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 Opening Ceremony has been revealed. Avril Lavigne will be joined by ‘Despacito‘ star, Luis Fonsi and legendary British DJ, Paul Oakenfold.

The event will feature 7,500 athletes from across 190 nations. During the Athlete Parade, they will be side-by-side with Special Olympics Global Ambassadors including Didier Drogba, Michelle Kwan, Dikembe Mutombo, Vladimir Grbic and Apolo Ohno.

The World Games will see athletes compete in 24 Olympic-style sports including swimming, athletics, bowling, triathlons, table tennis, volleyball and badminton.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on ESPN and Abu Dhabi TV. Tickets to attend are Dh100, available online.

The World Games will take place from March 14-21.
