The band will return to the region to play the prestigious race-day show, on November 25 at du Arena on Yas Island. They last performed in Dubai in March 2017.

The legendary rock-metal band has been on the road and making music since 1985, and the group’s make-up of has changed over the decades, the current line-up consisting of frontman Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan and Richard Fortus on guitars, Frank Ferrer on drums, and Dizzy Reed and Melissa Reese on keyboards.

Promoters Flash Entertainment made the announcement yesterday after dropping hints about the band over the past few days on social media. One of the postings on their Twitter account said:

Of course, one of the biggest songs from Guns N’ Roses is their power ballad November Rain.

According to head of Flash Entertainment John Licorice, it was Guns and Roses that approached the company for a possibly Abu Dhabi show.

“They actually heard about how great the race was from drive Kimi Raikkonen and he wanted to get involved,” he said. “Front man Axle Rose is a big formula one fan and big gear head.”

Canadian R‘n’B star The Weeknd will take to the stage for the second concert of the series, on Friday, November 23.

The remaining two shows on November 22 and 24 are yet to be announced.
